Are Women Empowerments Shadowing Men Down in Uganda Or Dragging Their DownFall

Women empowerment initiatives in Uganda aim to address issues of gender equality but concerns by a few Vigilantes who  have seen its consequences on men and are trying to bridge this gap.

On 19th May, 2025 Light Up Uganda kicked off its five day Men’s Conference at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds aimed to discuss issues of Men,improve house hold incomes and Marriage. The Conference runs under the theme Fix a Man, Fix the World.

In an Interview with NTV Uganda, Odrek Rwabwogo chair of PACEID (The Presidential Advisory Committee On Exports and Industrial Development) urged a renewed focus on Men’s role in boosting households’ income.

Women Empowerment started way back in the 1940s with Uganda Council of Women to advocate for better education opportunities for girls, safe motherhood and economic empowerment. His excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has pioneered women empowerment right from the time he started ruling. Women and girls have greatly benefited with having access to free education, extra 1.5 UNEB point to the University, Political Engagements and Economic Empowerment.

The Phaneroo Ministry organizes an annual Men’s gather conference every year to mentor and guide men in all aspects of life which is popularly known but some others have remained in dim light due to the less power they have.

Women Empowerment is not a bad initiative, it only has some weakness neglecting equity a virus that has made Men and Boys left out in some opportunities.
