Europe is amazing—the culture, the food, the history, and the architecture. It's no wonder that some of the most visited places on Earth are in Europe. However, many travelers avoid Europe because they think they need weeks to explore it. I'm here to tell you that you can have an incredible Europe trip in just 10 days, which usually only requires about one week off work if you plan it right. My wife and I have perfected the art of the quick European getaway, and in this article, I’ll share seven of our favorite 10-day Europe trip itineraries.

Northern Italy: Milan, Venice, Florence, and Cinque Terre

Start your journey with a round-trip flight to Milan. Spend a day exploring this bustling city, including the iconic Duomo and The Last Supper. Rent bikes and ride around the city to soak in its charm.

Next, take a train to Venice, the city of canals and hidden alleyways. Enjoy a gondola ride, visit St. Mark’s Basilica, and take a day trip to the vibrant islands of Murano and Burano.

From Venice, head to Florence, the heart of the Renaissance. Marvel at Michelangelo’s David, explore the Uffizi Gallery and climb the Duomo for breathtaking city views. Don’t miss dining at Cinghiale Bianco.

Finally, relax in Cinque Terre. Hike the stunning cliffside paths between the towns, savor the local seafood, and enjoy a glass of white wine on the beach.

Southern Italy: Rome, Naples, Pompeii, and the Amalfi Coast

Begin your adventure in Rome. Explore the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Vatican City. Don’t miss the Pantheon and the Borghese Gallery.

Travel by train to Naples, the birthplace of pizza. Take a city walk to immerse yourself in Naples’ vibrant atmosphere.

Next, visit Pompeii, frozen in time by Mount Vesuvius. Then, head to Sorrento, your home base for exploring the Amalfi Coast. Enjoy the laid-back charm of Sorrento, take a boat to Capri, and visit the beautiful Positano.

Bavaria, Germany: Munich, Fussen, and Garmisch-Partenkirchen

Fly into Munich and dive into Bavarian culture. Visit Marienplatz, enjoy the culinary delights at Viktualienmarkt, and tour the Residenz. Don’t miss the city’s famous beer halls.

From Munich, head to Fussen to explore the fairytale Neuschwanstein Castle and Hohenschwangau Castle. Enjoy a road trip through the mountains, visiting Oberammergau and Linderhof Palace.

Finish your trip in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, an alpine town perfect for skiing, snowboarding, or simply enjoying the scenic beauty. Take the cable car up to Zugspitze for panoramic views.

    Austria: Vienna, Hallstatt, and Salzburg

Start in Vienna, the city of music and imperial architecture. Explore Hofburg Palace, and Schönbrunn Palace, and enjoy the city’s café culture.

Next, visit the picture-perfect village of Hallstatt. Explore the salt mines and take in the views from the Skywalk.

Conclude in Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart and the backdrop for The Sound of Music. Visit the historic Old Town and the impressive Hohensalzburg Fortress.

    Central Europe: Prague and Budapest

Begin in Prague, the Czech Republic’s crown jewel. Explore Prague Castle, the Astronomical Clock, and the Charles Bridge.

Travel to Budapest, Hungary’s vibrant capital. Visit the Hungarian Parliament, explore District 7’s ruined pubs, and relax in the city’s famous thermal baths.

Spain and Morocco: Madrid, Granada, Seville, and Marrakech

Start in Madrid, enjoying the Prado Museum, Plaza Mayor, and a tapas crawl. Head to Granada to marvel at the Alhambra, and stop in Ronda to see the Puente Nuevo and the ancient bull ring.

Next, explore Seville, the heart of Andalusia. Visit Plaza de España, the Real Alcazar, and enjoy a flamenco performance. Optionally, take a short flight to Marrakech, Morocco. Explore the bustling souks, stay in a traditional riad, and visit Jemaa el-Fnaa square.

Inland Croatia and Slovenia: Zagreb, Plitvice Lakes, Istria, and Lake Bled

Fly into Zagreb and explore its historic streets and lively urban vibe. Visit Tkalčićeva Street and the Museum of Broken Relationships.

Drive to Plitvice Lakes National Park to walk the boardwalks and enjoy the stunning waterfalls. Next, head to Istria for truffles and olive oil. Visit the coastal town of Rovinj and explore hilltop villages like Motovun.

Finally, spend a couple of days at Lake Bled in Slovenia. Take a boat to the island, hike around the lake, and enjoy a Bled cream cake before heading back to Zagreb or Ljubljana for your flight home.

Each of these itineraries offers a unique glimpse into Europe’s diverse landscapes, cultures, and histories. Whether you’re drawn to the romance of Italy, the charm of Bavaria, or the vibrant cities of Central Europe, there’s a perfect 10-day trip waiting for you. Happy travels!
